Taken at a Hilton Head, SC cemetary earlier this summer. This a really old graveyard with birth dates in the 1700's. It's incredible to think that this island was completely cut off from the mainland during the time of these peoples lives. Did you know that Hilton Head was completely occupied by freed slaves for decades? Some slave graveyards are located right in the middle of posh resorts. My....how things have changed.
